Jake Martinez left behind the serene landscapes of South Texas for the thrilling pace of Chicago. A lifelong storyteller, he recently decided to share his words with the world. His two novels, The Mixtape to My Life and The Mixtape to the Real Me, are raw, honest explorations of growing up gay along the Texas border. With an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Texas – RGV under his belt, Martinez is equally at home crafting novels, plays, or screenplays (His audio drama, Espejos, can be found on the Headfone app), and is currently trying to spread his wings into the TTRPG realm with his first ever supernatural horror game, Legends of South Texas: Dancing with a Stranger. By day, he’s a Learning Designer, but at night he sits in front of his keyboard waiting for the ideas to flow. When he’s not chasing down his next idea, you can find in front of the T.V., surrounded by his loving husband, their young son, and four adorable pets.
